Caravan parks welcome city visitors

Accommodation places in the Lower South West welcomed intrastate visitors over the long weekend.

While weather did keep a few visitors away, caravan park operators in the region said some visitors better than none.

Manjimup Central Caravan Park manager Emma Marocchi said her establishment had about 45 per cent capacity at the weekend, with three late cancellations due to weather.

“It’s nice to be doing what we do again,” she said.

“It’s good to be back to some sort of normality again.”

Mrs Marocchi said due to COVID-19 restrictions, visiting caravans were spaced out in every second space.

“While people are staying here, we like to support local businesses by encouraging our visitors to visit them,” she said.

The streets of Bridgetown were full this weekend with visitors from around the State, including the Van Den Berg and Joubert families from Perth.

Karen Joubert said they had visited the town to visit local shops and to celebrate their son’s birthday.

Bridgetown Caravan Park manager Jayme Peltz said it had between 100 and 150 guests.

“We actually had quite a busy week and weekend before when the borders first opened up, it’s been a busy week,” he said.
