According to a new study, 62% of Norwegians think it is positive if the corona pandemic helps to tone down Halloween’s celebration because the controversial celebration could increase the infection.

In the age group of those over 60 years, 82% answered that they think it will be good if the pandemic contributes to a smaller celebration on October 31.

The data was revealed in a survey conducted by the research institute YouGov among 1,003 people over the age of 18 on behalf of Danske Bank in the October 7-11 period.

However, if you do plan to celebrate Halloween, here are some of the main health guidelines:

  • If you are ill, stay at home.
  • Remember to wash your hands often and thoroughly, and remember good cough hygiene!
  • Find alternative ways to celebrate Halloween this year to limit the number of contacts. Treasure hunts, rebus races, and the like are good alternatives to trick or treat rounds.
  • Buy and eat pre-packaged candy.
  • Do not share Halloween makeup with anyone outside your household.
  • Both those who ring doorbells and those who open doors must be healthy.
  • Go in small groups with people you are usually with.
  • Keep a distance from other groups if there is a queue outside some houses.
  • The one who opens the door is the one who hands out candy. Remember – clean hands!
  • Wait to eat the candy until the round is over, and you have washed/sprayed your hands.
  • Do not share sweets.
  •  Feel free to bring an adult on the trick or treat round to ensure both infection control and traffic safety in the dark are upheld.
  • Check local rules and the infection situation on the municipalities’ website. The situation may change rapidly before October 31.

Have fun and stay safe!
