helsea have launched an initiative to help keep children active during the latest lockdown.
The club will hold a series of weekly live coaching sessions to maintain their training from home.
Chelsea Academy and Foundation Coach Andrew Ottley will become the club’s own Joe Wicks – following the lead set by the social media star, who ran PE classes online during the first national lockdown.
The ‘Coaches Corner Live’ Sessions, start from Saturday, will be broadcast live on the club’s Facebook channel at 11am every week until lockdown is lifted.
Chelsea decided to launch the initiative over concerns about the development of young players, who have been impacted by the suspension of games and coaching sessions following latest government sanctions as the country tries to stop the spread of Covid-19.
Ottley will focus on technical skills, from agility and dribbling to passing, shooting and ball mastery, using demonstrations, challenges and drills.
Players can continue during the week using the training app, Perfect Play, which was developed with and is used by the Chelsea Academy.
