Kia Sonet: Variant-wise features explained

Ever since the Kia Sonet debuted, it has been the talk of the town. Be it design or features or technical specifications, the compact SUV is being appreciated for all its facets. Many are even considering the Sonet to be the segment’s next big thing. The Kia Sonet bookings have already commenced in India, with the launch set to take place next month. It is available in as many as six variants across a couple of trims. Let us talk about the variants of the Sonet in detail.

Like it happened with the Kia Seltos, the Kia Sonet is also based on a dual-trim concept of Tech Line and GT Line. The compact SUV has six variants — HTE, HTK, HTK+, HTX, HTX+ and GTX+. Below are the variant-wise features in the Sonet.

There are three engine and five transmission options in the Kia Sonet. The Smartstream 1.2-litre petrol motor develops maximum power of 83PS and peak torque of 115Nm, and is offered with a 5-speed MT. The Smartstream 1.0-litre T-GDi petrol mill belts of maximum power of 120PS and peak torque of 172Nm, and has 6-speed iMT and 7-speed DCT choices. The 1.5-litre CRDi diesel engine churns out maximum power of 100PS and peak torque of 240Nm with 6-speed MT and maximum power of 115PS and peak torque of 250Nm with 6-speed AT.

The Kia Sonet is 3,995mm long, 1,642mm high and 1,790mm wide. The wheelbase and ground clearance measure 2,500mm and 211mm, respectively. The boot has a capacity of 392 litres.

As reported earlier, we are expecting the Kia Sonet price to be in the Rs 8 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) to Rs 13 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) range.
