A Pensacola man was arrested on charges related to the sexual abuse of a girl under age 12 after the girl disclosed the abuse to her teacher.

William Outten, 43, of Pensacola, was arrested Thursday and charged with sexual assault on a victim under the age of 12 and two counts of lewd or lascivious behavior.

His redacted arrest report did not provide information about Outten’s connection to the girl or her exact age.

On Feb. 8, the girl wrote a note and handed it to her schoolteacher. The note read, “I was touched in the private parts” and disclosed Outten as her abuser, according to his arrest report.

During a later interview at the Gulf Coast Kid’s House, the girl told investigators that Outten inappropriately touched her and made her touch him in a sexual manner, the report stated.

A warrant was subsequently written for Outten’s arrest, and he was taken into custody by the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office.

Outten was booked into the Escambia County Jail without bond, and county records indicated he remained in custody Tuesday.
