The world is at a standstill due to the coronavirus pandemic. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) is currently advising against all but essential travel, and thousands of planned trips have been cancelled as a result. But many of us have holidays booked this summer, so what happens now? Express.co.uk explains everything we know about your TUI holiday.
When is TUI flying again?
TUI will be cancelling all TUI holidays travelling on or before May 14, 2020.
Marella Cruises sailing on or before May 31, 2020, have also been cancelled, as have TUI River Cruises travelling up until and including November 25, 2020.
Although these dates have been issued by the company, it is not entirely certain when any airlines will be flying again.
The coronavirus pandemic has grounded flights across the world, and when TUI is able to fly again will depend on when the Government lifts the current restrictions on non-essential travel.

What happens if my holiday is cancelled?
Despite the fact TUI holidays are not going ahead as planned at the current time, TUI is still offering a number of holidays online for later in the year.
However, the travel operator acknowledges on its website people will no doubt be “apprehensive” about booking any future travel.
As a result TUI have launched their ‘TUI Travel Promise’, to offer customers further protection when booking a holiday.

The company states if you book a package holiday through either TUI, Marella Cruises, First Choice or TUI River Cruises, you won’t need to pay the costs until four weeks before the holiday date.
This protection is in place for all package holiday bookings made between March 17 and May 31, 2020.
If any future holidays you book during this period with TUI are affected by Government advice and restrictions, the company will contact you.
TUI has promised to offer “a range of flexible options” if your holiday cannot go ahead as planned.

If you made a booking with TUI before March 17, their website states: “If you have an existing booking for a TUI, Marella Cruises, or First Choice package holiday, booked before March 17, 2020 and travelling on or before June 30, 2020, you can amend for free to any holiday that’s currently on sale.
“If you choose a holiday that’s cheaper than the one you originally booked, we’ll refund you the difference.
“If you choose a holiday that’s more expensive than your original booking, you’ll need to pay the difference in price.
“You can make a change free of charge up until seven days before your original departure date.

“This policy is in place until May 31, 2020. So, if your holiday departs between June 8, 2020 and June 30, 2020, you must make any amends on or before May 31, 2020.”
TUI currently state if you are due to travel with them after June 30, the holiday is scheduled to go ahead as planned.
At the current time, your normal terms and conditions will apply.
This may be subject to change, depending on whether the Government decides to extend travel restrictions.
