NEW DELHI: The net of Covid-19 red zone covered eight more areas on Friday and the capital now has 68 containment pockets. The new areas are located in South, South East, West and North districts, which already had multiple red zones.
Among the new zones are affected areas around house no. 859/20, L-II under South district’s Sangam Vihar; and Gali no. 26-26B, house nos. 2056-2092 and Gali no. 27-27B, house nos. 2063-2083 in South East’s Tughlaqabad Extension. In West district, the zones are C-105 and B-333 of Hari Nagar; Nangloi’s C-785, third-floor camp number 2; and Nihal Vihar’s RZ-168, K2 Block; and the surroundings in all three areas.
As per an order by the SDM Hauz Khas, a red zone has been created including various areas at Sanatan Dharam Mandirwali Gali and Valmiki Mandirwali Gali in Savitri Nagar under Malviya Nagar police station. Malik Apartment house no 73/172 and Deendayal Marg house nos. 119/A-107 are also part of this containment zone.
In North district, house nos. 716-950 in Jahangirpuri’s K block is placed under another red zone.
The authorities are scanning the city every day to find any area that has reported three or more people with the novel coronavirus infection. On Thursday, three containment zones were set up.
All containment areas are being barricaded and will remain sealed for at least 28 days. However, if any new person is tested positive in any of these zones, the sealing period will be extended by another 28 days from the date of the new result.
Police have been deployed in all these locations, and especially at entry/exit points, to stop any unauthorised movement.
