Katherine Jenkins has broken her silence on the street robbery which left her ‘shaken up’.

Last last year, the musician, 39, was mugged for her £500 iPhone after she bravely attempted to stop her attacker snatching an elderly woman’s handbag on King’s Road in West London.

Nearly four months on from the incident, the singer has defended her ‘instinctive’ decision to help the victim, and has even insisted she’s ‘forgiven’ the teenage mugger due to her Christian faith.

‘If it happened again, I’d do it again’: Katherine Jenkins has broken her silence on the street robbery which left her ‘shaken up’

‘If it happened again, I’d do it again’, the media personality defiantly told Stella magazine.

The classical songstress claimed she stepped in as the elderly woman was ‘clearly in distress and screaming for help’ during the attack which took place weeks before Christmas.

She explained: ‘So many people just walked past. It was an instinct to rush over and, in doing so, I got attacked as well. It’s part of my faith to give people a chance and show forgiveness.’

Katherine said she was apprehensive to discover her husband Andrew Levitas’ opinion on her bold act, but was relieved when he told her: ‘I’m proud of you’.

Just hours after the mugging, the Angel hitmaker performed at the Henry van Straubenzee charity carol concert at St Luke’s Church.

On why she decided to take to the stage, she added: ‘I was shaken up initially. But my instinct is always to keep going, so I got out there. It was a charity. I didn’t want to let them down.’

In January, the 15-year-old, described as a ‘Grade A’ student who cannot be named because of her age, said she wants to apologise in person.

The teen, who was arrested at the scene with a friend, also pleaded guilty to assaulting a police officer at the hearing at Highbury Magistrates’ Court.

The girl told magistrates that she grabbed the singer’s Apple iPhone fearing she was being filmed while trying to rob the woman Katherine stepped in to protect.

The Welsh mezzo-soprano was referred to on the charge sheet under her married name Katherine Levitas, because she didn’t appear at court.

When asked by the judge what she could do to help Katherine feel better, the ‘ashamed’ mugger said she’d ‘probably apologise’ and write her a letter, admitting: ‘I know that’s not going to make up for what I did’.
