MANGALURU: Mangaluru city police arrested Mohammed Ajinas V M,25, and seized 840 strips of LSD from his possession.
City police commissioner N Shashi Kumar told the media on Friday that the accused used to supply drugs to college students and other consumers, at parties. He used to supply LSD to clients in Mangaluru, in Kasaragod in Kerala and Goa.
“We are yet to identify the people or source of these drugs, and we are also checking if he appointed peddlers for the sale of drugs,” he said. The commissioner said that a team led by DCP Hariram Shankar is working extensively to curb the drug menace in the city.
The accused hails from Kozhikode, and was staying in Kadri. He was arrested when he was waiting for a customer on a two-wheeler on Thursday. A strip of LSD costs anywhere between Rs 2,000-Rs 6,000. The weight of the seized LSD is 15.2g, which is worth Rs 16.8 lakh. The police also seized two mobile phones and a two-wheeler from the accused.
A case under the NDPS Act has been registered at the Mangaluru East police station. The police commissioner announced a cash reward of Rs 10,000 for the team that made the seizure and arrest.
