    PUNE: The Maharashtra Education Society’s Sau. Vimalabai Garware School and Vidnyan Bharati jointly launching ‘MES Subodhwani’, a web radio on the occasion of Republic Day. It was inaugurated by Air Marshal (Rtd) Bhushan Gokhale. This information was given by Anandi Patil, president of the School committee of MES. Sudhir Gade, deputy secretary, Maharashtra Education Society, Vilas Rabde, and R. V. Kulkarni of Vidnyan Bharati were present for the launch.


    MES Subodhwani will enable students to interact with the prevailing teaching methods by combining creativity and entrepreneurship. With the help of web radio technology, this radio station will be broadcast worldwide and thousands of listeners will be able to listen to its programs simultaneously through the internet. It is available on android phones for which MES has taken a server on rent from an Australia based company, informed Anandi Patil. Vidnyan Bharati has given tremendous support to this initiative, said Patil.

    Sudhir Gade said that various programs suitable for the holistic development of students will be presented on this radio station to make capable and self-reliant citizens of the future by eliminating the current ‘Ghoka and Oka’ i.e. recitation method of education. With this in view, a completely different type of program will be produced and broadcast in the advanced studio of Garware College. Initially, thrice in a week one hour program will be broadcasted. After six months, a review will be taken and it will be expanded furtehr. Pilot episodes are broadcasting currently.


    The content broadcasted through this Subodhwani radio will be useful for the students of standards 5 to 10. Inspiring, creative and indigenious content will be the feature of this radio. “We will focus on giving the academic and scientific content as well,” said Vilas Rabade.
