Further investigations in the case will be done after speaking to the women to know if many more girls were also pushed into the trade by the accused.
THANE: The anti-human trafficking cell (AHTC) of the Thane police on Monday busted a prostitution racket and arrested two pimps, informed officials.
They also rescued five girls who were allegedly pushed into the flesh trade by them.
According to inspector Ashok Kadlag at the AHTC, they were tipped off about this prostitution racket operated by a woman and her aide and were active on social media targeting customers from Thane following which the police laid a trap.
“The gang used to run a prostitution racket under the guise of an agency providing female escorts to customers for parties among others. They used to publicise their business and meet their prospective clients at various locations including cafes, restaurants, among others. Accordingly, we sent a decoy customer and trapped the two pimps,” informed Kadlag.
The two pimps were arrested after they were caught red-handed accepting money for providing the women to the decoy customer. The girls, all aged between 20 and 22, were rescued while a case was being registered against the pimps at the Kapurbawdi police station, informed Kadlag.
Further investigations in the case will be done after speaking to the women to know if many more girls were also pushed in the trade by the accused, said the police.
