While I’ve gone through a lot of movies over the months — some good, some great, some terrible — I’ve decided to highlight the best films I saw that include a diverse cast because as is, there’s not enough out there to begin with.

Here’s some titles available on Amazon Prime:

1.

The Sound of Metal

The all-star cast plays five hugely significant characters: Malcolm X, Cassius Clay, Sam Cooke, and Jim Brown. It’s a slice of history.

3.

The Big Sick

Based on Kumail Nanjiani’s life, The Big Sick is genuine and profound and funny, too.

4.

Sylvie’s Love

Amazon / Courtesy Everett Collection

Set in the 1950s, this love story will have your heart soaring.

5.

I mean, the name says it all. INCREDIBLE. You need to see this.

11.

Netflix / Via gph.is

Sweetness overload. Based on the books by Jenny Hann, these films are overly adorable. Laura Jean forever.

This one’s a trip. Exciting and kinda crazy, anyone who’s seen this movie raves about how they can’t turn away.
